Scholarships Regulations for MN SWCS Scholarships Dear SWCS Minnesota Chapter Leaders: Would members of your Chapter like to continue their education or update their skills? Please share the attached information with the members of your Chapter so that interested individuals can apply for this scholarship, which is open to conservation professionals who have been a member of SWCS for one or more years, before the application deadline of December 31, 2009. Financial assistance is available to members of SWCS who want to pursue higher education and professional development through the Donald A. Williams Soil Conservation Scholarship. The scholarship provides up to $1500, offered to members of SWCS who are currently employed but wish to improve their technical or administrative competence in a conservation-related field. Below are a few examples of ways in which the scholarship could be used. Ø Continue undergraduate or graduate education Ø Enroll in a course needed for certification or other professional development Ø Take an on-line course or two Ø Attend a specific technical workshop Ø Attend professional development sessions associated with a technical conference Scholarship applications and additional information on requirements for this scholarship are available on the SWCS webpage (http://www.swcs.org/en/members_only/scholarships/ ). Members may also contact me or SWCS Headquarters (515-289-2331) for more information. Unfortunately, SWCS is unable to offer the two "student" scholarships this year. It may be helpful for students to know that these scholarships exist and will be offered in the future since they need to be a member of SWCS for at least one year before applying. Basic information about the scholarships is available on the attached brochure and the SWCS webpage. Thank you for your assistance in sharing this information as widely as possible
